New Ideas Team

<img:stuff/writersco_divider2.jpg>

Now we have members! Yeah!
Here are our members:
[Metal Tsubasa]
[~*Lonely Wanderer*~]
[SleepingDragon]

This is where we as a team will put deadlines, brainstorming and anything else we will need.

Ideas for contests:

Weekly (or Monthly) One Day Showdown

The idea here is that once a week (or month) a new theme is posted and entrants have 24 hours to submit a story. This could be helpful in preparing aspiring writers to deal with short deadlines.

But with so few members on writersco... how are we sure anyone will even submit? It takes weeks to get a good bunch of people to get into a contest.-[Metal Tsubasa]

I guess you can never be sure, but if it's announced early and people talk about it in blogs and tell their friends, etc, that might help. To me it doesn't matter if it gets 2 entries or 15. If one person does the exercise, then it helped that one person. -[SleepingDragon]

That makes sence, I just hate it when a contest is put to waste. I suppose then, it could work, it sounds good. -[Metal Tsubasa]

lyrical prose - (wiki under construction)

A contest wherein each participant would base a short story on a song of their own chosing

Other stuff:

1. We've been asked by [Emily] to brainstorm ways to promote forum 15 <joinforum:15:join> (WC Contests) Right now it has a link on the mainpage with no explanation. It's not part of the regular listing when you click on forums.

Update: A new WC Contests forum has been created now in the regular listings. Thanks to [Font] and [Hedda] for the help with that!

2006-01-30 [SleepingDragon]: Thanks!...and hopefully people will start using this stuff soon. :)

2006-01-30 [Metal Tsubasa]: Yeah, that would be good.

2006-01-31 [~*Lonely Wanderer*~]: yes very good. ^__^

2006-01-31 [Metal Tsubasa]: We still need to come up with some new ideas... like contest ideas... or poll ideas...

2006-01-31 [SleepingDragon]: Polls for the main page? Or were you thinking elsewhere?

2006-01-31 [Metal Tsubasa]: No, you're right, for the main page.

2006-01-31 [~*Lonely Wanderer*~]: well valentines day is coming up we could do a poll/contest on that...

2006-02-02 [Metal Tsubasa]: *sigh* Oh how I hate Valentines day... we could do it on what it means to people possibly...

2006-02-02 [SleepingDragon]: Question or whatever...There's a contest team now. Are they looking for new ideas from us? Is that how it works? I have a possible idea for a contest thingy but I don't want to step on any toes if that's someone else's gig

2006-02-02 [~*Lonely Wanderer*~]: im not sure what is this contest thingy (neither do I but what is it lol) ^___^ yeah if there isnt already a contest you could ask about a valentines day contest the best valentines day theme!! lol and it will be picked by the 14 lol

2006-02-03 [Metal Tsubasa]: Hmm... we're the new ideas team... which means we can pretty much go anywhere, it even says so in the description. I don't see anything wrong with coming up with something and then dropping a hint to the other teams.

2006-02-03 [SleepingDragon]: Ok. I put an idea up on the wiki

2006-02-05 [SleepingDragon]: Couple observations about contests... Myself, I personaly shy away from these open deadline contests. I see the point that the hosts want more people but open deadlines give me the feeling that I might be wasting my time submitting. Also, that I'm going to have to wait forever to find out how I did. The second thing is prizes for contests (talking about the one's on the contest page) What are people actually getting for winning? Anything? I see a lot of 'prize to be deturmined' stuff. It seems like for Writersco contests, there should at least be some kind of kickass badge for the winner or something.

2006-02-05 [SleepingDragon]: That brings up a poll idea..."Why do you enter contests?" a. there's a good prize at stake b. To challenge myself and/or learn and improve as a writer c. because my friend did too d. some other reason

2006-02-05 [~*Lonely Wanderer*~]: I agree with the winner badges but you also have to remember there's only so many things you can stuff into the bage box (in your house if you can follow me) and a lot of well known people join them and if they all won constantly then they would be overwhelmed with bedges but something smaller would be cool and for your poll letter d. should be 'becuase I was bored' lol ^__^

2006-02-05 [~*Lonely Wanderer*~]: ***Notes*** There is a person called [RiddleRose] who is asking to join the new ideas team and I went to her presentation and have talked to her before and she seems like a very good person for this team!!! But (laughs) how do I tell others this (besides forums I dont like forums) lol

2006-02-06 [Nightshadow]: You can always message someone who does use the forums, but really, to be an active participant in the crew, it's good to poke the forums yourself. That would also let you know that we're already discussing [RiddleRose]. ;) For the record, I'm not much of a Heddate forum person either, but...it goes with the territory.

2006-02-06 [Nightshadow]: (By and by, I really like the 24-hour showdown idea.)

2006-02-06 [SleepingDragon]: Hi [Nightshadow]. Glad you popped in. I'm not much into these type of forums either (Havn't entirely figured them out yet). The more the merrier I say. I'm wondering though...should one of us give the contest team a heads up that we're discussing contest ideas here. They probably have a bit of investment in that sort of thing. :D

2006-02-06 [Nightshadow]: Ask the contest team. x3 As for the forums...you get used to them. It's a very innovative system. (hint: "view" "watch" and "hide") next to the thread numbers of posts are your friends.)

2006-02-06 [~*Lonely Wanderer*~]: I still do not understand and probably never will, wiki's are so much easier for me (laughs) ^__^
